Asset Auditing
12 November 2009
Tempus MTAS are pleased to announce their latest offering - Asset Auditing
The single biggest time / cost exercise when implementing any CAFM system is collating your data.
If you’re lucky you may have spreadsheets or legacy systems that contain some of the information but invariably most sites are looking at a long period of data collection via a site audit.
Tempus MTAS will visit your site or sites, discuss your requirements, understand your processes and identify and collect your data.
This exercise could be as simple as just identifying what type of equipment you have and auditing this equipment on a room by room basis as recently performed at the Metropolitan College of Birmingham - Matthew Bolton Campus or uniquely identifying each and every Asset with a Barcode or RFID Tag as performed at Sealine’s Kidderminster plant.
Once your data has been collected Tempus MTAS will Cleanse, Load and Structure your UltraSys database. Additional information can also be collected during this exercise, Planned Maintenance Requirements, Health and Safety Documentation, O&M Manuals, all this data can be collected and recorded against your site Asset information.
Tempus MTAS feel that by undertaking your Asset collection exercise in this way reduces the time taken to implement your system and reaping the benefits is greatly increased.
For further information on this or any other Tempus MTAS offering please call us on 0121 233 3100 or email us on ultrasys@tempus.co.uk
TEMPUS MTAS LAUNCH ULTRASYS II
05 October 2009
MTAS, on stand C53 at the TWM Show, have been producing systems for maintenance and facilities management for more than 25 years. During this time there have been numerous innovations and 5 major redevelopments each of which constructed to take advantage of new technology and experience gained during the life cycle of the previous version.
In consequence, each version became better than its predecessor with enhancements to existing functionality and a set of new features and modules that not only satisfied market need but enabled the product to remain ahead of the competition and in the forefront of technology.
UltraSys II continues this theme but, whereas previous products have been a significant progression from one system to another, UltraSys II can only be described as a quantum leap. There has been a radical shift in both design and philosophy in that the system is geared to behave as a dynamic tool for both tradesmen and managers. Information is accessed with extreme ease with the system anticipating a requirement before it has been requested so that it acts as more of a personal assistant than a computer application. Many complex calculations that were once produced via reports are now available on the screen as a matter of course and provided with no degradation to system performance.
Each user operates the system as if the complete application had been developed specifically for them. Thus, although the capability of the system is far ranging, each user can cherry pick those elements that are required for them to do their job. For example, a helpdesk operator may only work through a single screen, a tradesman through particular elements of a single module or a manager with a wider remit through ‘top down’ screens with access to the Business Intelligence capability of the system. The system provides information in a very visual manner so that full understanding of a situation or problem can be quickly conveyed. For example, extensive use is made of calendars with full manipulation and drag and drop facilities of the events contained. Whatever the requirement, the system can be configured to provide the solution.
UltraSys II can handle just about any aspect of maintenance and facilities management. Jobs can range from photocopying documents to cleaning windows to painting programmes to complex maintenance and repairs on production assets to full project management of building a tower block. The system can handle any size of job and automatically plan resources needed to see it to a conclusion. Moreover, work does not have to be related to an asset; the system will allow jobs to be related to cost centres, projects, clients, contracts, departments or assets.
Costs and charges can be applied to any work aspect so that users can work on either a cost or charge basis (or both). For example, a factory manager may want full control over costs associated to manpower, materials and purchase orders to third parties whereas a facilities management provider may require costs and the ability to work to contracts that specify how charging should be undertaken. In the case of the latter the system can also handle service level agreements, penalties and liabilities as well as the myriad levels of charging in relation to the types of work being undertaken.
Functionality is extensive and very comprehensive with full integration of all modules. The following are included as standard.
The above list is by no means comprehensive but it does hopefully, convey a sense of completeness.
The pricing of UltraSys II is extremely competitive and offers outstanding value for money. For the larger user it provides a powerful business management tool that guarantees significant payback through proper control of all aspects of the business and for the smaller user it offers the chance to employ top of the range technology at a price that has been unaffordable up until now.
We will be exhibiting at the Total Workplace Management Expo on the 7th & 8th October 2009 at London Olympia on stand C53. Come and see us to find out more or contact us on 0121 233 3100 e-mail

Birmingham Airport UltraSysNet Assistant
22 AUG 2008
Birmingham International Airport are implementing UltraSysNet Assistant. BIA aim to reduce the amount of paperwork and cut helpdesk calls to the Building Management Centre which will, in turn, allow their engineers more time to work on jobs around the airport.
UltraSysNet Assistant will allow employees who have reported jobs or are reliant on a job being completed to access the job details and view its status – this will reduce calls to the helpdesk.
Employees can also log their own jobs into the system and these will be acted upon by the engineers – thus, speeding up the completion of jobs as engineers will no longer have to spend time on paperwork.
BIA have ordered 100 licenses for this product and its simplicity means that any employee can master it.

“We chose UltraSys for a number of reasons. As an FM software product, it competes more than adequately amongst its rivals, offering flexibility and functionality which can be passed on to our demanding customers in a turbulent working environment. All essential of course, but what’s really important to us is commercial control: we need a product that not only looks good and serves our customers well, but one that serves us well internally too. Birmingham International Airport
20 Dec 2006
The airport in Birmingham was opened as a municipal airport in July of 1939 and almost immediately, stopped all civil aviation which was not to resume until 1946 due to the outbreak of World War II. From these modest beginnings, Birmingham International Airport has grown to become the fifth largest airport in the UK. Over 700 people work directly for the airport with around 150 companies operating on site providing employment for a further 7000. With over 9 million passengers passing through over the year the airport is a vibrant workplace that operates round the clock and requires a wide range of maintenance activities to sustain this level of operation.
To facilitate and coordinate work and resources the BIA maintenance department has used UltraSys since 2000. The system has been used to good effect and has helped provide a significant contribution to efficiency improvements and cost reductions. As part of a continuous improvement programme BIA are currently, expanding system function through the introduction of PDAs which operate over a wireless network which they expect to reduce response times, further improve resource utilisation and provide managers with increased work visibility. It is expected that a modest investment in this technology will return substantial benefits to the organisation not least in increasing management control and reducing costs.
MCC
20 Jun 2006
The Lord's cricket ground in St Johns Wood is owned by the Marylebone Cricket Club and is the home to the Middlesex County Cricket Club and the England and Wales Cricket Board. Indeed, the ground was started by Thomas Lord as far back as 1814 and is often referred to as the home of cricket. It has a world wide reputation and an unparalleled history in the sport.
The ground and facilities both need to be kept in tip top condition that reflect the image that the club is keen to maintain. Moreover, a wide range of sports hospitality and entertainment is provided where the cricket can be enjoyed in luxury and supported by a first class service. The Lord's image and the efficient provision of these facilities are very important to the club and MTAS were therefore, more than pleased when the UltraSys facilities management system was chosen as the tool to help manage and maintain this prestigious venue.
The system provides not only the maintenance management software needed to keep grounds and building in good working order but also a range of soft services linked to catering and entertainment. The system is fully integrated with other complementary systems such as finance and is fast becoming a powerful tool in the efficient running of the site.
