Data Migration and Integration

Database Migration

Tempus MTAS have considerable experience in migrating data from existing systems into our own products. Indeed, the majority of UltraSys implementations have involved the successful import of existing data.  We have both the technical expertise to import from a variety of sources and the practical experience to advise on which data it is beneficial to load.

To assist data migration we have developed a standard suite of programs that enable us to reduce the cost of migrations and ensure consistency in the way data is loaded. This approach is particularly appropriate when our clients have the skills in-house to extract the data from existing systems to an agreed format.  In other cases we have been supplied with spreadsheets or Microsoft Access databases and have used data mapping tools and techniques to convert these data sets to our standard formats.  We have also successfully extracted data from legacy systems where there has been no available information from either the client or the system supplier as to the underlying data structure.

System Integration

In today's complex business environment no computer system can exist in isolation as data needs to be shared between systems. Tempus MTAS have provided successful interfaces between UltraSys and a wide range of systems. Including:

  • Manufacturing

  • Procurement

  • Finance

  • Payroll and HR

  • Building Management and SCADA

  • NHS Patient Administration Systems

  • Hardware interfaces such as PAT testers, stores carousels

  • Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word

  • EMail clients - both Outlook and Lotus Notes

Some of our implementations run multiple interfaces to support their business requirements. For example an FM system for a local government housing contract: passing purchase and sales ledger information to the corporate finance system, extracting payroll information from our timesheet module and supplying  to the payroll system, importing job requests from external systems, passing job appointments to an external time management system, sending job details and purchase orders to contractors and suppliers by email etc.
Our approach to system integration is to not merely focus on the technical aspects of the interface but seeks to understand and advise on the overall business processes that will be affected by the introduction of UltraSys.

These interfaces can be run at a particular time of day, run continuously, triggered by an event in our application or database or by an event in the external system
